The #1 Thing That's Holding You Back From Healing (And How to Change It)
Let's chat about something that can seriously derail your healing journey. I've been there, I've lived it, and I've seen it time and time again: it's your mindset. I know it might sound a little "woo-woo," but trust me, this is a game-changer.
The Trap of Diagnosis
When I first got really sick, I was obsessed with getting a diagnosis. I thought that a label would somehow validate my suffering and point me toward a cure. But you know what happened? Getting diagnosed with lupus actually made things worse. I started to identify as the disease. It became an excuse, a limitation. "I can't do that, I have lupus." It took me YEARS to unlabel myself and understand that my body was simply sending me a message: "Pay attention! Something's wrong!"
Taking Responsibility: The First Step
The turning point for me was taking complete responsibility for my health. I had to face the fact that I hadn't exactly been kind to my body. A poor diet, years of antibiotics... I had to own my part in the situation. And that meant making some serious changes.
The Power of a Mindset Shift
But even with dietary changes and supplements, something was still missing. That's where the mindset shift came in. It's not just about wanting to feel better; it's about believing you will be better.
Setting BIG Goals
So, here's what I want you to do. Start setting BIG goals. Forget those small, wishy-washy "I hope I have more energy" thoughts. Instead, declare: "I AM free from ALL my health issues, and I will be that way FOREVER." You've got to truly BELIEVE it in your core.
Changing Your Language
The way you talk to yourself and others is incredibly powerful. Shift your language. Instead of saying, "I have [disease]," say, "I am healing from [disease]," and eventually, "I am pain-free, I am healthy, I am full of energy." Own your health! Visualize it!
Connecting with Your "Why"
Then, dig deep and connect with your BIG "why." What will you DO when you're healthy? What truly motivates you? Is it your kids? Your spouse? Your career? Do you dream of traveling the world? Is there an activity you love to do more than anything? SEE yourself living that vibrant life!
My Personal Journey
When I was at my sickest, I'd given up on ever having a baby. But as I started making these mindset shifts, I began to visualize it: myself, pain-free and healthy, having a healthy pregnancy. It became a powerful driving force.
I'm also passionate about training my dogs, so I'd visualize myself not just walking them, but RUNNING agility with them at the World Agility Championships! I would close my eyes and see myself on a plane, traveling to Europe, carrying the Canadian flag. It was a huge, ambitious goal.
And because I absolutely despise winter, I'd visualize myself driving south with my dogs to Florida, escaping the cold, and enjoying the ocean.
The Power of Visualization
I recommend doing this exercise twice a day: first thing in the morning and right before bed. Now, I'm not saying this mindset shift will magically cure you overnight. But it will light a FIRE under you. It will fuel your desire to heal in a way you can't imagine.
When you consistently focus on these goals, doors start opening. Opportunities arise. Before, I was stuck in a cycle of trial and error, spending a fortune, and still suffering. But when I changed my mindset, everything began to shift. I found the motivation and inspiration to invest in myself, to find the right programs and testing, and to finally get to the root cause of my health issues. And you can do the same.
The Incredible Results
It's amazing how things start to align when you truly believe. I had a young dog and we trained to compete at the world level. Something I never thought I'd be able to do. I also moved to Florida where Iām homesteading and staying VERY warm!
And the most rewarding part? I'm able to share my story and help others find hope and healing. That was a huge goal for me, and it's now a reality.
What Can You Afford to Lose?
So, I have to ask you: What can you afford to lose? More years of suffering? Missing out on precious moments with your family and friends? Losing your job, like I did? Can you really afford not to try this?
This exercise is simple. It takes five minutes, twice a day. Visualize BIG. See it happening. And trust me, I know you can reach your goals. I see you being pain-free and full of energy.
Conclusion
Healing is possible. It takes time, effort, and the right approach. But it starts with believing in your body's ability to heal and connecting with the life you truly want to live.
I hope this helps you on your journey!
